Minnesota Transgender Discrimination Attorney

Transgender Discrimination

Employees who have a transgender sexual orientation are protected against unfair and discriminatory treatment in the workplace. Retaliation against transgender workers is illegal. Employer termination based on gender discrimination is also prohibited. Denial of access and service in public spaces is similarly prohibited.

Minnesota state law defines transgender sexual orientation to be a protected class which includes, “a self-image or identity not traditionally associated with one’s biological maleness or femaleness.” There are statute of limitation requirements that must be met for those who have been victimized by transgender harassment or discrimination.
