MN Government Contractor Fraud Attorney

GOVERNMENT CONTRACTOR FRAUD

Federal and state governments frequently contract their services to private contractors. If these contractors fail to perform agreed upon services and bill the government for it anyway, that is of course against the law. Contractors may also fraudulently perform their services in a variety of ways. If persons become knowledgeable of such contractor fraud, they may officially report this misconduct and file a whistleblower {qui tam} lawsuit where they may qualify for a percentage of recovered funds.

  • Work fraud: Debt collection contractors may submit false reports for billing to a government agency, falsely alleging work or services were performed. Any person who knows of such conduct can file a whistleblower {qui tam} lawsuit.
  • Contractors who fail to meet eligibility standards: Private contractors, such as construction companies often are required to meet minority ownership or employee minimum standards, as a requirement to qualify for a government contract. If contractors falsify their eligibility in order to receive money, even if the work is performed, then that may constitute a false claim, and persons with knowledge of that eligibility issue may file a whistleblower {qui tam} lawsuit.
