Minnesota Shoulder Impingement – Bursitis Attorney
When the scapula rubs against the rotator cuff it can cause a soft tissue injury, or shoulder impingement, causing increasing damage, pain and loss of movement. The soft tissue is comprised of the rotator cuff muscles, tendons and bursa and located between the acromion and head of the humerus. When the soft tissue is aggravation from trauma, it becomes inflamed and swollen.
To treat shoulder impingement, physical therapy has proven effective if it is started soon after the injury has occurred. Corticosteroid injections will then be required to reduce swelling and pain. Arthroscopic surgery would be required only if physical therapy and the injections both failed to treat the injury.
If surgery is required, the arm will be immobilized for a short time during recovery, followed by additional physical therapy to regain movement and strength. Recovery time will be approximately 2-4 months before pain relief will set in.
Chronic pain of any kind can be very crippling, especially when it forces you to take time off from work. At Tarshish Cody we have helped many clients get the settlement they deserve to pay for medical expenses, pain and suffering and lost wages because they were involved in an accident and suffered shoulder impingement and it wasn’t their fault.
